BRIGHTON SEA LIFE CENTRE
Listed Aquarium Restoration | Visitor Experience Design | Specialist Marine Environment Works

Osbornes Architects have been involved in multiple phases of work at the Brighton SEA LIFE Centre, the world’s oldest operating aquarium and a highly significant Grade II* listed structure. Working closely with the client and Brighton & Hove Conservation Officers, Osbornes has supported the ongoing repair, refurbishment and development of this landmark visitor attraction.

Current works focus on the repair and new theming of the Ocean Tank and auditorium, a highly specialist project involving complex environmental, structural and conservation considerations. Once completed, the scheme will deliver a world-first “day and night” visitor experience within a single aquarium tank, transforming how guests engage with marine habitats and immersive displays.

These works form part of a long-term programme to conserve the historic fabric of the Victorian aquarium while supporting cutting-edge visitor experience upgrades, ensuring the SEA LIFE Centre remains both operationally robust and internationally distinctive.
