Osbornes Architects were appointed as Architect and Principal Designer for the redevelopment of a key area within the London Aquarium. The project delivered an immersive new Frozen Planet zone, expanding and enhancing the existing penguin habitat to create a richer and more engaging visitor experience.
A critical element of the commission was the requirement to keep the attraction fully operational throughout the works. This was achieved through careful planning at the design stage, detailed coordination with the client and contractors, and the development of a robust phasing strategy to minimise disruption to guests, staff and animal operations.
The project demonstrates Osbornes’ expertise in delivering complex themed environments within live visitor attractions, balancing creative design, operational constraints and animal welfare considerations.
