SEVERN STOKE VILLAGE HALL – Flood-Resilient Community Facility
Replacement Village Hall | Flood-Resilient Design | Community Architecture
Osbornes prepared the initial design proposals for a new Village Hall in Severn Stoke, replacing the existing hall that has fallen into disrepair. The scheme responds directly to the village’s increasing vulnerability to flooding, with the new floor level raised above the recently constructed flood-defence threshold. This ensures the building remains resilient to future flood events, which have become more frequent due to climate change.
The proposed design offers a simple, elegant solution that maximises views across the surrounding landscape while providing a flexible, welcoming space for the local community. The new hall aims to support a wide range of activities and events, ensuring the building continues to serve as a focal point for village life.
