Anne Hathaway’s Cottage
ANNE HATHAWAY’S COTTAGE
Heritage Building Conservation | Stratford-upon-Avon | Listed Building Repairs
Osbornes Architects carried out a detailed condition survey and prepared a full schedule of repairs for Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, one of Stratford-upon-Avon’s most iconic and highly visited heritage buildings. The cottage’s status as a major tourist attraction results in significant wear and tear, making regular inspection and conservation planning essential.
Our survey assessed the condition of the traditional thatched roof, which requires cyclical maintenance, and the extensive Blue Lias stone plinth, known for its vulnerability to frost damage, moisture ingress and long-term weathering. We produced conservation-appropriate repair details designed to stabilise fragile areas, prolong the life of original materials and safeguard the building for continued public access.
With extensive experience in listed building conservation, Osbornes Architects ensured that all recommendations followed best-practice heritage principles, supporting the long-term sustainability and visitor safety of this nationally significant site.
