SHAKESPEARE BIRTHPLACE TRUST – Conservation, Repair & Visitor Facilities
Long-Term Heritage Partnership | Timber-Frame Conservation | Listed Building Repairs

Osbornes Architects has worked with the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust for many years, supporting the conservation and ongoing maintenance of their nationally significant portfolio of buildings in and around Stratford-upon-Avon. These include Shakespeare’s Birthplace, Mary Arden’s Farm, and Palmer’s Farm, each carrying high levels of statutory protection and requiring a meticulous, conservation-led approach.

Our work spans a comprehensive range of traditional building repairs, including the replacement of original timber-frame sections, the repair and renewal of lime mortars, renders and plasters, and general fabric stabilisation in response to age, weathering and visitor impact. Every intervention is designed to preserve historic integrity while enhancing the long-term resilience of these internationally recognised heritage assets.

In addition to conservation works, Osbornes has undertaken quinquennial surveys, delivered projects to improve visitor facilities, including the design of new retail spaces, WC blocks and support buildings. These additions are sensitively integrated into historic settings, ensuring they meet modern operational requirements without detracting from the character or significance of the sites.
