This project involved the design of a contemporary link building to connect an existing cottage with an adjacent traditional stone building. The scheme creates a unified home while respecting the character of the original structures.

A steel-frame construction was used to support expansive full-height glazed façades, forming a dramatic double-height space at the heart of the property. A gallery-style landing provides the first-floor connection between the two buildings, enhancing openness and visual permeability.

The central feature stair acts as a key focal point within the new space, which now functions as the main dining area. The combination of structural clarity, natural light and carefully balanced modern detailing creates a striking contrast to the older buildings while maintaining overall architectural harmony.
